December 10, 2021 We would very much like to thank you for your support this quarter. We had a wonderful time preparing our musicians for their Holiday performances. Music is most definitely ''food for the soul''; it takes us all to a better place in our minds and hearts. Read on Parent Coffee Hour - December 2021 December 10, 2021 We held our second Parent Coffee Hour this past Monday evening. The topic discussed was Child Protection/Safeguarding. One of the main points that our counselors stressed was the importance of having open and ongoing communication with your child regarding technology use, healthy relationships, and online safety. Read on Activities & Athletics Director Message - December 10th December 10, 2021 We first want to thank all the families that participated in our programs this past semester! Without your commitment and understanding during these times, we would not have been able to offer the program. We returned to many familiar aspects of our after school offerings through Club EAB, Varsity & JV Athletics, and our US Clubs! And, along the way, we offered new opportunities for students to learn and grow in their desired activity! Read on Nobel Prize Teacher Summit 2021 December 10, 2021 The Nobel Prize was first awarded in 1901, as a result of Alfred Nobel's will and his desire to celebrate "those who, during the preceding year, have conferred the greatest benefit to Mankind." Each year, the Nobel Prizes are awarded on December 10th in Sweden, but this year was a special year as it was the first time that Nobel came to EAB! Read on An Important Message from the Head of School December 3, 2021 As a school leader, people often ask me what I think is most important to teach in schools. They often expect me to talk about 21st-century skills, innovation, or college preparation. They are surprised when my answer has nothing to do with academics. The most important thing that we can do in schools is ensure that our students leave us as good humans. Read on Welcome to EAB! EAB is a leading international school in Brazil and has been serving families of Brasília for 60 years. Our rich history, depth of experience, and commitment to excellence in education have made us a top choice for families in Brasilia.  We are a diverse international school community that provides an English-language-based pre-K through Grade 12 education. EAB is committed to serving all students' needs. We offer three rigorous diplomas – International Baccalaureate (IB), American, and Brazilian – in an environment that promotes the holistic education of each child through a differentiated approach. At the center of EAB's outstanding educational program is its teaching staff, carefully selected for excellence from across the globe. Over half of our teaching staff are from the United States, Canada, New Zealand, Australia, Ireland, and the United Kingdom. The other half are recruited from the very best private and public schools in Brazil.   Being new to the EAB community this year, it is easy for me to see why families choose EAB and why our school has earned the trust of the community in Brasília. Our mission statement is truly lived by our students, educators, and families. True to our mission, EAB challenges students to be learners who inspire others to be inquirers, principled, and bold in vision. This mission is the anchor to everything we do at EAB. We believe that while academic excellence is essential, that it is just as critical that our students grow to be balanced global citizens who positively impact the world through excellence in academics, activities, arts, leadership, and service. These impacts all start while students are at EAB through our various service-learning programs, balanced athletic offerings, and robust arts programs.  For these reasons, joining the EAB community was an easy choice for me as an educator and as a parent. After serving as a school leader at leading international schools across the globe, it was personally important that the next school I chose would be a good fit for me professionally and would also support my children in a world-class education. I feel very fortunate that my daughters will benefit from EAB's long history of educational excellence and its commitment to growing learners into global citizens. For our family, the choice was clear! EAB is known for its family-friendliness and the value we place on relationships and community. In this spirit, we invite you to visit our school to learn more about the diverse ways in which EAB can serve your family. Please contact me or any of our outstanding staff here at EAB with any questions you may have. It would be our great pleasure to welcome you to the EAB family!   Yours in learning,    Grace McCallum Head of School See MoreSchool CalendarFacebook American School of Brasilia (EAB)EAB LivestreamCheck out out the EAB Livestream Channel to watch our recent events using your computer, phone or tablet.   Welcome!
