So we will help you made up your mind and show you some awesome places you should visit here.Lagoinha do Leste is one of Floripa’s treasures. Located in the south of the island, there are only 3 ways to get to this beach: by the trail from Matadeiro beach, the trail from Pantano do Sul beach or by boat from Pantano do Sul beach (it depends a lot on the ocean condition to work, so it’s better not to count on this).This beach is around 1,2 km long and it’s surrounded by native Atlantic forest. The water is clear and the waves are a little bit strong, but not that much to worry! There’s a river that ends at the beach, forming a lagoon that gives name to the beach. Once is a little bit hard to get there, there aren’t too many people there, what makes it the perfect place to relax.Why do we recommend doing the trails? Through both trails you can see the biodiversity of the Atlantic Forest, and you have a breathtaking view of the beach. The trail from Matadeiro beach is the longest one, around 4 km. It takes you 2h30 to 3h trekking. It is a little bit hard, with a lot of rocks on the way, and some up and downs. To get to the starting point of the trail from the hostel, you have to get a bus from the Lagoa urban terminal (TILAG) to Rio Tavares urban terminal(TIRIO), bus number 841. Once in TIRIO, you get the bus that goes to Pântano do Sul (number 564) and ask the bus driver to stop at Armação beach. When you get there, you go right until the end of Matadeiro beach, where you can see the beginning of the track.Beginning of the trail at Matadeiro Beach: while doing the track, they have a bifurcation, go right!One of the views of matadeiro track.View of Lagoinha do Leste from Matadeiro’s track. The trail from Pântano do Sul beach is easier and faster than the one from Matadeiro. It’s 2,5km long and it takes you around 1h to 1h30 up and down the hill.To get to the beggining of the trail, you do the same steps as explained to get to Armação beach, but you ask the bus driver to stop at the beginning of the track of Pântano do Sul (it’s at the bus stop before you get to João Belarmino da Silva road). From there, you have to walk around 300m to the beginning of the trail.View of Lagoinha do Leste from Pântano do sul track.To enjoy the most of your day, you can get to the beach from Matadeiro trail and go back through the trail to Pantano do sul, so you have the amazing view from both sides and still have a lot of time to enjoy the beach!On the way back, near the beggining of Pântano do sul track you can reach another secret spot called  Morro da Coroa, this track takes you around 45 min each way, but you can have the best view of the beach! Just go for it!!!It’s a good option to wear comfortable shoes, a cap, put a looooot of sun protector, bug repellent and take a small backpack with some food and water there (usually they have tends there that sells water, beers and some sandwiches, but everything is a little bit expensive).If you wanna go in a more comfortable way to this place, we have some partners that do tours to the beach. It was built in 1898 and there you can find pretty much everything: shoes, pots and dishes, clothing, stationery shop, decoration, handicraft, horticultural products, cereals, gadgets, fish stands, shrimps, squid, octopus, oyster and everything the sea has to offer.Besides this, the public market have plenty of restaurants and bars where you can find traditional dishes from the Island. It´s a good choice to try Pastel de berbigão (a traditional small molusc) with sugar cane juice!The will of the Public Market is also used for folkloric performances. On a visit to the site (http://www.mercadopublicofloripa.com.br/) you may encounter expressions of regional culture: Ox Papaya, Maricota, Maracatu, etc.How to get there from the hostel: Get a bus at TILAG-Terminal that goes to TICEN-Downtown Terminal, it costs you 3,90 and takes around 40 min to get there. Arriving at TICEN, get off, cross the street and walk 100m and you`ll already see the Public Market. Hours of operation: The shops are open from Monday to Friday from 9am to 7pm and Saturdays from 9am to 12pm. During the week, the bars stay open until 1opm or so. Saturdays are the 3pm on average. Not open on Sundays. Check on the website the operation hours on hollydays.No entrance fee!2.Palace Cruz e Souza or Palace of the GovernorsThe Palace Cruz e Souza is a walking distance from the Public Market, located next to the Metropolitan Cathedral, facing the XV de Novembro Square.This palace was built around the XVII century and used to situate the house and work place for the Santa Catarina governator´s.Nowadays it´s named in honor to João Cruz e Souza, the most important name regarding Brazilian Symbolism, who was born in the old Desterro. However, Cruz e Souza only lends his name to the former government building from Colonial times to 1984.It’s the largest museum in town. The colonial building in pink and white was built in the mid-18th century and expanded over the years. You can see remnants of the earliest part of the stone and wood-beam structure downstairs in contrast to the ornate parquet floors and elaborately painted bas-relief ceilings upstairs. How to get there from the hostel: Get to TICEN as explained before. Get out from the urban terminal, cross the road and walk around 200m and turn left at Fernando Machado square, go straight until you get to the Palace. Hours of operation: Tuesday to Friday from 10am to 6pm. Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 4pm. Entrance fee: R$ 5,00.3.XV de Novembro SquareLocated at the heart of the city, it is the most important square of the Island. The square has many attractions like its petit dessert style flooring reproducing a drawing with island folklore motifs, designed by artist Hassis, the Monument in Honor of the Dead Heroes of Paraguay War and busts that commemorate Santa Catarina´s most famous artists: the poet Cruz e Sousa, the painter Victor Meirelles, the historian José Boiteux and the founder of the press in the State Jerônimo Coelho. However, the main attraction is, undoubtedly, the huge plant with more than one hundred and forty years! With all these years of life, the centennial Figueira came to a weight greater than expected and had to receive support for its huge and heavy branches.It´s a nice place to relax with the fresh air. How to get there from the hostel: Follow the direction above, it´s in front of Cruz e Souza Palace.4.Santo Antônio de LisboaSanto Antônio de Lisboa is one of the oldest colonies of fisherman in Floripa. It is located at the northwest of the island and have preserved a lot of the old houses with a colonial architecture and small streets made of stones.At this neighborhood you can see the first stone road of Santa Catarina State. It was built to receive the imperator Dom Pedro II during his visit to the island at 21th october 1845 and it`s still preserved. At this street there is a small square named Roldao da Rocha Pires where you can enjoy a street market during the weekend with a lot of handcrafts.This area have a big variety of restaurants and bars, together with the Sambaqui and the Cacupé neighborhood, form the so called “Gastronomic Route of Sol Poente”, that gets this name because the area is one of the best places to admire the sunset in the city. In a rainy day is a good option to taste good typical seafood meals, admire the beautiful architecture. How to get there: At Lagoa Terminal, get the bus 333 to Titri(teminal da trindade), there you get the bus 332 to Tisan(Terminal de Santo Antônio de Lisboa) and from there it`s 10 minutes until you get at Santo Antonio neighborhood. Entrance fee: no entrance fee.5.RaftingWhy doing rafting at a raining day? First because you get wet anyways doing it, so just go for it! Second is because the river get full of water and more powerful making Rafting even more adventurous.Apuama Rafting is at Santo Amaro da Imperatriz, a city nearby Floripa, and occurs at Cubatão do Sul river that offers excellent conditions for this practice.Located at a rural area, they have an exuberant scenario between mountains covered by the atlantic forest.
