For a short holiday in Rio you can't go wrong. Nice bed, good customer service, close to the Copacabana beach, close to the metro station, feel supermarkets around and good value for money. Staff is friendly and helpful; service is ok. Although there is no room service (never at Ibis), there is a 24 hour bar which also serves snacks. Dinner (from 7pm) is quite cheap. As a Club member I could checkin earlier and checkout later than otherwise without extra charge. Overall: good value for money. Had a nightmare to redeem points. At the end, the manager of the hotel apologized for the trouble and offered a voucher to a future stay, but it never happened. We had it once and it was not worth the money, however I think other hotels around this price provide it as part of the room price. The WiFi is very slow and only works well if you stand near the door to the room, or it gets spotty and may drop the connection. There are no glasses or cups provided in the room, and not even a coffee maker. For what you pay for the hotel, it's ridiculous they can't even give you a cup of coffee--they'll charge you for a cup from the machine in the lobby.That said, the staff with whom we interacted is great. One attendant gave us good information for something that helped us out and saved us time, and another attendant assisted us with another matter. English speaking staff is helpful, and seems to be a rarity in Brazil. Not that we expect English speakers, but it does help.
